TRANSFORMER CONTROL ROOM

Interactive thermal simulation of a 630 kVA oil-immersed distribution transformer
1
A virtual transformer is generating heat. The PID controller automatically adjusts cooling fan speed to keep oil temperature at the setpoint (72C). Watch it fight to stabilize.
2
Try the scenarios on the left: Overload ramps to 130%, Runaway pushes 120%+ sustained, Coolant Fail kills the fans. Can the PID keep up?
3
Switch to MANUAL mode and control the fans yourself. Try to beat the PID controller. (You probably can't.)
4
Drag the Kp, Ki, Kd sliders to see how PID tuning affects response. Crank Kp to 15 and watch it oscillate. Set Ki to 0 and see the steady-state offset.
